Two Terraces Chardonnay Tony Bish 2023
Newly Released 2023 Vintage premium Chardonnay from Tony Bish
Lifted aromas of culinary herbs, citrus blossom, vanilla, hazelnut and white peach with complex oak spice nuances. The palate is intense and richly layered with a creamy mouthfeel and incredible drive and long persistence. Lingering flavours abound, with crème brûlée, crisp green apple and lemon meringue.
Hand-picked Chardonnay from renowned Two Terraces Vineyard in the Mangatahi sub-region were whole bunch-pressed, with only free run juice progressing to ferment in new and seasoned French oak barriques
Cellar for 6-10 years.
Lightly hazy, even, pale yellow with a tinge of green. The nose is elegant and complex, with aromas of soft flint stone, brown butter overlying citrus, stonefruit and hazelnut. Medium-bodied, aromas of grapefruit, lemon and starfruit entwined with minerals, delicately portioned flint, hazelnut and spice. The aromatics are lifted with an airiness, and a sherbety tension binds and persists in a linear, lasting finish. This Chardonnay possesses a mineral core, and a beautiful tension reflects a sense of place and winemaking style. Match with butter-poached langoustine and turbot over the next 5-7 years. 100% Mendoza clone, whole bunch pressed, only free run juice progressed to ferment in Taransaud fine grained 3-year seasoned barriques, 50% new, indigenous yeasts ferment, underwent spontaneous MLF. Aged for 11 months, barrel selected. Unfined and unfiltered, further aged 6 months in bottle.
